SLC Punk (1998) ❤Director: James Merendino
"Beauty is the end" - I love that line in the movie. It’s simple yet has a lot of depth to what it means. SLC Punk was pretty fucking good.. I absolutely loved how it was all about the the punks that were out there in Mormon land during the 80’s. Well, I guess I should say the "real" punks and not the posers. The focus was mainly on Matthew Lillard’s character Stevo and his friend Heroin Bob who is actually against taking drugs despite his nickname. The story follows them around through their everyday lives surrounded with parties, anarchy, rebellion, love, freedom, and whatever else life throws at them. It’s especially great the fact that it was taken place in Salt Lake City which is one of the places I’ve partially grown up in and also my second home where my dad resides. I’ve got a couple friends that are involved with the punk scene so the characters in the movie really reminded me of them. I also must add that Matthew Lillard was just amazing. Definitely the best one he’s done except he hasn’t really done comparable works unless you count Shaggy from Scooby Doo or one of the killers from Scream.
